Collegial Circle

What is a Collegial Circle?

A Collegial Circle is a group of people who come together on a regular basis around a common goal, need, interest, or question.  There is a shared commitment to the purpose of the group.  A Professional Circle involves shared decision making, voluntary participation, and commitment over time.

Things to do BEFORE you send in your Collegial Circle Application.
  • Speak with your Department Chair
  • Speak with your Building Principal
THEN
  • Sign on to MyLearningPlan.com and apply for prior approval

THEN

Send in your Collegial Circle Application to the Oceanside Professional Development Center.

 

 

 


In-Service Course Proposal

Want to teach a course? You can earn money while sharing your expertise.

It is a two-step process...

  1. Fill out the In-Service Course Proposal Form which you can find here.
    This form automatically submits via Email.
  2. Fill out the Professional Development Outcome Planner which you can find below.
    This form must be printed, filled out and submitted via inter-office or postal mail.

You will be notified via e-mail that each form has been received.


Professional Development Outcomes Planner

This worksheet can be used by staff developers to describe course objectives, as well as identify means of observing their impact in classrooms.

Information you will need to complete this form:
  1. The intended level(s) of impact that will be the focus of the evaluation.
    (Specific levels are provided on the actual form.)
  2. For each level selected above, describe clear course objectives. For levels 3-5, indicate how implementation might be assessed. Instructors may want to complete this worksheet in collaboration with course participants. Ongoing assessment and feedback can be provided at sessions following implementation of key course objectives.
  3. After taking your course, participants should be advised to use the OPDC Course Exit Survey/Evaluation.

Things to do BEFORE you send in your Oceanside Online Course Approval Form.

If your course is on the...

Approved List
Denied List
  • Go to MyLearningPlan.com
  • Complete the Registration Form
  • Find another course from the Approved list
    or
    Choose another course that has not been reviewed and go through the Online Course Approval process listed below.

If your course is not listed on either list, then do the following...

  • Complete Form
  • Attach necessary documentation
  • Receive signature from your Supervisor
THEN
  • Mail completed packet to Oceanside Professional Development Center, School #6
  • Submissions must arrive to the OPDC office no later than the last week of the month for consideration and review at the following month's SDPB meeting.

THEN

  • A SDPB sub-committee will convene and review your request

OPDC Course Exit Survey/Evaluation

New York State Teacher's Centers are required to evaluate the effectivness of their courses as part of the funding agreement between the District and the State. Therefore, upon completion of any of our courses you are strongly requested to take a few moments to complete one of the forms below.

The Short Form

This brief survey gives us valuable information that will be used to provide you with the most well developed and relevent professional development experiences.

 

 

This more detailed survey is designed with key questions regarding the Professional Development Outcomes of the course or workshop that has been taken.

The form requests identifying information but does not require it for submission. Upon completion of the form both the OPDC Director and the participant filling out the form, as long as an email address is provided, will receive confirmation of all submitted information.
